I do not think there are any kids in the word who would not love to sleep on a bunk bed at night. My own daughters, aged 7 and 11 years old always pester me to take them for a train trip, specifically to sleep in the bunk beds available in the train.

Is the mattress soft enough to be comfortable but firm enough to keep the child’s back in order? The mattress should be firm (it should bend into two without a real effort) and at the same time, it should be soft enough for the child to lie down comfortably in it
The bunk bed mattress will need to also be covered if not already bought with it, with anti allergy covers. This will help ensure that the child is not exposed, while sleeping, to the harmful allergens that may be floating around the house.
The mattress should be tall so that the bunk bed is comfortable; however it should not be so tall that it stops above the railing constructed for the bunk bed to prevent the child turning and falling out of the bed.
